Position Title: Shop Manager

Position Overview
Road Service LLC is looking for a dedicated and experienced Shop Manager to oversee daily operations at our truck repair facility. The Shop Manager will be responsible for managing technicians, coordinating repairs, maintaining inventory, and ensuring that every truck that comes through our doors receives fast, reliable, and high-quality service. This role requires strong leadership, mechanical knowledge, and a customer-first mindset to keep our shop running efficiently and profitably.
Key Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day operations of the truck repair shop, ensuring smooth workflow and timely completion of repairs.

Supervise, train, and support technicians, assigning jobs based on skill, priority, and workload.

Monitor repair progress, provide technical guidance, and ensure work meets safety and quality standards.

Maintain shop schedules, handle work orders, and manage customer service expectations.

Oversee parts and inventory: track usage, order supplies, and build relationships with vendors for timely deliveries.

Ensure all shop equipment is maintained, calibrated, and in safe working condition.

Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with DOT regulations and industry standards.

Handle customer interactions professionally, explaining repair needs, timelines, and costs.

Monitor performance metrics including shop productivity, revenue, and expenses, and report to management.

Collaborate with management to create service strategies that increase efficiency and profitability.
Qualifications
-
3+ years of experience as a Shop Manager, Service Manager, or Foreman in truck repair, fleet maintenance, or a related field.

Strong knowledge of heavy-duty truck systems (diesel engines, brakes, suspension, diagnostics, etc.).

Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Customer service oriented with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Familiarity with DOT safety requirements and repair shop compliance regulations.

Proficiency with repair order systems, scheduling software, and MS Office.

High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification or degree preferred).
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, and supervise shop operations for extended periods.

Must be able to occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs.

Comfortable working in a shop environment with exposure to noise, grease, and heavy equipment.
